WeedShelf vs Distru: an engagement layer on METRC, not an ERP
Distru describes itself as seed-to-sale software and an ERP for cannabis operators, with DistruCommerce as its B2B wholesale menu. WeedShelf is a different kind of product: a live METRC-synced wholesale menu with one private link per dispensary, whose job is to record which buyer is paying attention to which product before the order arrives. This page says what each one does in its own terms, what each does not, and when a Rhode Island cultivator would want one, the other, or both.

What Distru is, in its own description
On its public site (read October 2026), Distru describes itself as seed-to-sale software and a cannabis ERP: inventory, order fulfillment, invoicing and accounts receivable, warehouse and manufacturing, a CRM, reporting, and METRC and BioTrack integrations, in one system. DistruCommerce is described as its B2B wholesale menu, which licensed retailers browse and order from through a free DistruCommerce account; its home page also describes a marketplace where a brand can get noticed, beside private menus. Delivery route planning and a QuickBooks integration are described as part of the platform, and so is a tool for its sales reps that, in its words, “turns orders from any format into a populated checkout cart, and your rep reviews and sends”: texts, emails, images, PDFs and CSVs.
That is an operations product. Its help center article “Seller Dashboard - DistruCommerce”, read on October 3, 2026, describes what a seller sees about its menus: the orders placed through them, the totals sold and paid, outstanding balances, the top-selling products and the top buyers. Nothing on its public site or in its help center, as read, describes recording which buyer opened a menu or what they looked at.
What WeedShelf is, and is not
WeedShelf is wholesale menu software for licensed cultivators. It reads a cultivator’s live inventory from METRC, turns it into a wholesale menu with one private link per dispensary, and records what each buyer does with that link: the open, the products viewed, what went into the cart and in what quantity, and the order. From an order it creates the METRC child packages on adult-use tags, the transfer template, and the emailed invoice; the cultivator dispatches in METRC Connect, as the state requires.
WeedShelf is not an ERP and does not try to be one. It keeps no books, syncs no accounting system, plans no delivery routes, runs no team chat and keeps no public wholesale catalog: no wholesale menu is open to the public. A buyer opens a menu link without an account: the link is the identity. Rhode Island dispensary buyers can also request a WeedShelf buyer account, which WeedShelf reviews and ties to one store; it opens the live menus of every cultivator on WeedShelf’s members-only buyer marketplace, which a cultivator can leave. Rhode Island is the live market. Because WeedShelf works through METRC, a cultivator in Massachusetts or any other state that uses METRC can request access.

| An order sent by text or email | Described for its sales reps: texts, emails, images, PDFs and CSVs become a populated checkout cart that a rep reviews and sends | Paste or type what a buyer sent, and WeedShelf drafts the order; nothing is placed until the cultivator taps Place order |
| Accounting integration | Described: QuickBooks Online sync and a QuickBooks Desktop export | None, and not planned |
| Delivery routing | Described | None |
| Buyer-side ordering | DistruCommerce, through a free retailer account that opens every participating vendor’s menu | One private link per dispensary with no account needed, or a reviewed Rhode Island buyer account that opens every participating cultivator’s menu |

Choose Distru when
- You run more than one facility and want accounting, receivables and reporting in the same system as inventory.
- You sell into markets where your buyers already order through DistruCommerce.
- You run a delivery fleet and want routing inside the tool.
Choose WeedShelf when
- You sell to a known set of dispensaries and want to know who is paying attention before you pick up the phone.
- You want the METRC packaging and the transfer template to fall out of the order instead of being rebuilt by hand.
- You want a buyer to open a link, not create an account.
Using both
Nothing prevents running WeedShelf beside an ERP. METRC is the source of truth for both, so inventory is never entered twice: the ERP keeps the books, and WeedShelf keeps the record of who is looking.
Questions
- Is WeedShelf a Distru alternative?
- For the buyer-facing menu and the order-to-manifest step, yes. For accounting, receivables and routing, no. WeedShelf is an engagement layer on METRC, not an ERP.
- Does WeedShelf do accounting or sync to an accounting system?
- No. Invoices are emailed as PDFs and the books stay wherever they are.
- Does WeedShelf connect to METRC?
- Yes. Inventory is read from METRC, and an order becomes METRC child packages and a transfer template that the cultivator dispatches in METRC Connect.
- Can I use WeedShelf and Distru together?
- Nothing prevents it. METRC is the shared source of truth, so nothing is entered twice.
- Does WeedShelf have a marketplace?
- A members-only one. Rhode Island dispensary buyers request an account, WeedShelf reviews it and ties it to one store, and it opens the live menus of every participating cultivator. Menus are never public, and every other buyer opens the private link the cultivator sent.
- What does WeedShelf cost, and what does Distru cost?
- WeedShelf pricing is quoted on request; there is no public price list. No figure is quoted for Distru here either, because prices change and a stale one misleads.
- Where does WeedShelf operate?
- Rhode Island today. Massachusetts and the other states that use METRC by request, since WeedShelf works through METRC.
How this page was written
Every statement about Distru is taken from its own public website, distru.com, as read on October 3, 2026, or, where a statement names it, from Seller Dashboard - DistruCommerce, as read on October 3, 2026; where that site does not describe a capability, the table says so rather than claiming its absence. Statements about WeedShelf are from its own product. No price is quoted for either, because prices change. The methodology page covers what WeedShelf publishes and what it does not.
